Now for the surprises......
Water had been seeping under the rear entrance - rotting the floor
The hot water baseboard pipes had leaked and corroded.
The wallboard didn't reach the floor behing the baseboard. A perfect nesting area for our little friends
The sub-structure of the chimney had been improperly built and was rotting away
A closer view of the sheething behind the fireplace, literally falling apart.
Debris was cleaned up. Wall board was extended to properly seal space and new baseboard heat installed.
All baseboard units were thoroughly checked and were replaced as needed.
The leaking door was replaced, and the rot cut and new flooring installed to match.
The FIX......
New fireplace insert, surround, hearth and mantle installed.
New chimeny sub-structure constructed, and getting ready for stone.
New stone being applied. When finished, it will be like it never even happened.
